Hi MAMA!

I hope you are feeling better! I decided to make you a blog so that I can show you pictures of what I am doing, instead of trying to explain by email & phone.

This is my temporary home in Torrance, California.

Notice the shiny new helmet on the bed; I really did but one when I said I did :)

Even though I do not like wearing it, because it feels like a bowl on my head, I do wear it every time I ride my bike. It stands out, so everyone notices me coming. I get honked at by cars at least two to three times a day because of it, but I still wear it for you and Papa.

I live on the second floor, and the room is kind of small, but I only sleep in it, so it is perfect for my needs. I have a bathroom right next to my room; it's very clean.

This is my bike. I bought it on craigslist for $100 dollars. It is very old but it works well, although it makes lots of noise. But that too, lets people and cars know that I'm coming through. Overall, it's pretty trustworthy.

I also bought a pink lock for it because it is technically a mens bike, but I wanted to make it more girly. I decided against getting a newer bike for the same price because I wanted the bike to look rusty and old, so that no one would want to take it.

I bought a bell and a compass for it as well, which also helps me get around. I live south-west of most places in Torrance, so I know where I am going most of the time.

I mostly use it to go to work, the beach, and the grocery store that is down the hill. I live on a very steep hill, so I usually have to walk my bike half the way up..

Because I don't have a car, and I live on this big hill, I buy food for myself on a daily basis; a little bit at a time. One day I buy a few avocados and salt, the next day, some mangos and hummus. Mangos and avocados are in season, so I eat lots of those.

I have a very good organic food store next to me
called Sprouts, they only have a few of those in California. It's like Whole Foods and Trader Joe's, but simpler an
d cheaper, for some things.

Also, Trader Joe's is close to the beach, so on the weekends, I go there to get edamame.

Today I made mango-coconut rice for breakfast.

This is Mary, the older lady that I am living with, who is the landlord. She is retired.

She has a very nice garden and really likes cats.

She really really really likes cats.
